The brave TNT 'shore-to-shore we can' Channel swimmers were just four miles from the French coast when appalling conditions forced the abandonment of the swim late this afternoon (13th September).

Gale storms and atrocious weather conditions have sadly prevented TNT's 'shore-to-shore we can' swim across the English Channel.

A seven-strong team from express delivery giants, TNT, is attempting an audacious 23-mile swim across the Channel to raise £30,000 for the children's charity, Wooden Spoon.

Wooden Spoon's principal supporter TNT are bracing themselves for their biggest challenge yet. Not content with having already raising over £2.65 million for Spoon, nine brave swimmers are hard in training to compete in a Channel relay in August.

Tom Bell, the driving force behind TNT's 12 year support of Wooden Spoon has received Royal recognition in the Queen's New Year's Honours List.

Jake Humphrey, the Formula One racing presenter, joined pupils from the Sir John Cass Foundation Primary School in London last week to assist TNT Express Services to deliver some 'top gear and Christmas cheer' to kids across the UK as part of TNT's ongoing support for Wooden Spoon.
