Introduction to the Regional Committee

Our Committee is a vehicle for members who wish to help organise events, and to take part in the decision as to which projects we should invest funds into. If you feel you have some time and event skill to offer, please contact Barrie (Telephone 07836 534 269 or e-mail barriemair@bulldoghome.com)

Barrie is the current Chair of the Committee, having been in post for the last 10 years. On the basis that it might move others to do likewise, he tells us that having brought up five healthy kids with his wife Jill, and having time in retirement to give a little back to society, that Spoon provides the ideal vehicle to help children from less fortunate backgrounds.

The team continually refreshes itself with new volunteers arriving to pick up the baton, so nobody needs to feel that they are making a lifetime commitment.

One constant feature in the Chilterns team has been the immense frame of Nigel Timson - one of the founder group of 10 Spooners. Nigel's latest contribution was to help organise a new, contributing event "Let's Rock the Moor"; a rock concert which heralds the end of the Cookham Festival.
Our able treasurer, who counts the pennies and keeps the books in order, is Martin Lynch (a finance director in real life). Martin Sanders, Managing Director of Honda powered products, finds time in his busy palm-top to combine active support of the Chilterns with his position as a Trustee. Likewise, Keith Lawton, a retired solicitor, combines an emeritus role with that of President of Maidenhead RFC, and Spoon adviser extraordinaire.
Stuart Adlam (a senior sales manager with Eli Lily) has taken on the role of Carol Cruise organiser.
John Williams (a director of Lambert Smith Hampton) has taken on the task of organising our golf days.
Alan Randall (a local farmer) provides help with land access for events.
For any issues relating to your spoon membership, please contact David Walmsley at Spoon Office. Tel: 01276 410 180 (option 3)

RFU and Club Support

Our first regional President, Sir Clive Woodward, now fronts up a new, annual golf day at the Lambourne Club in September.

Clubs in the region gives us support in many different ways: Putting on events; Giving Spoon free space in match programmes and fixture cards; Making us their charity of the year; Bar collection boxes etc. If your Club would like to assist in one of these, or other, ways please let us know.

We have recently invited local clubs to the opening of our projects, so that they can appreciate the scope and benefit of our work, but if any representative of a Club would like to make a visit to "see for themselves", we would be happy to make the necessary arrangements.
