At their last 2009 Council Meeting in December, the Trustees approved the four new regional projects, all of which will receive donations from Spoon totalling £128,500 in the new year.
The projects include the Red Balloon Centre in Middlesex, with a donation of £40,000 towards the extension and refurbishment of Red Balloon's centre in Harrow, north west London. Red Balloon is a charity that provides therapeutic care and education programmes for children who have suffered from serious bullying at school.
Another donation will be made in Scotland, with a £50,000 contribution towards the building of a Therapy Suite at Camphill School, near Aberdeen, a school for children with special needs.
In Somerset, £20,000 will be given towards the refurbishment and enlargement of the swimming pool area at Selworthy School, Taunton, a school for children with special needs.
Finally, in Yorkshire there will be a donation of £18,500 towards the creation of an outdoor play area at Elm Grove Children's Home, Heckmondwike, which is a residential care home for children severe mental and physical disabilities.
The addition of these four new projects take to total number of Spoon projects outstanding to 41 with a total commitment of over £1.7 million.
