After much planning, fundraising, physical exhaustion and numerous blisters the Harrogate, Northallerton, and Morpeth offices of Strutt & Parker succeeded in their challenge to walk all 84 miles of Hadrian's Wall on April Fools Day.
The weather could at best be described as inclement, and at worst foul, but by working together each and every one of the 36-strong team persevered in their challenge to complete their given stretch of the Wall.
The Charity was once again well supported by clients, friends and family alike, so much so that Spoony, the Wooden Spoon mascot, made the trip up north to congratulate everyone.
Having reached over £13,300 to date, with more pledges still to arrive, they are both delighted and warmed by the support that their Regional challenge has attracted.
A representive of the offices said
'We are all immensely proud of our teams' achievement, and I have no doubt that it will be a day to remember for a long time to come'.
The Banchory office staff took to the Highlands, covering 82 miles over 21 estates and climbing to the summit of Ben MacDui. Their challenge was to see how many different modes of motor transport could be used to achieve this.
Once at the top the ball was then be passed to the Inverness office who then transported the ball from the top of the Summit back down to their office, their challenge was to use as many non motorised modes of transport as possible.

The Glasgow office took the ball to the Ayr Show. They had a giant S&P sale board created, where they had cut out an 'O' and played a game where people were timed for 10 seconds where they had to throw as many rugby balls through the hole as possible.
Over the two days they raised £355.00, plus they had already raised about £140.00 in February at their 125th birthday party.
Three members of the Edinburgh office completed the Edinburgh Half Marathon on Sunday 10th April. Maurice Allan, Tom Stewart-Moore and John Wright joined a field of over 3000 runners for the 13.1 mile event. Between them, they have raised over £2,100.00.
The Edinburgh office received the rugby ball on 9th May where they had arranged an array of fundraising events for that week including a pub quiz, raffle and auction.
The rugby ball was delivered to Shrewsbury by Ed Chamberlain with the office having run a combined equivalent distance between Chester and Shrewsbury. They had also simultaneously been running an Auction of Promises where the lots had been donated by members of the office and clients.
Earlier in the year James Thomas and his friend cycled from John O'Groats to Lands End which raised £2,000.00.
The Ludlow Office hosted a quiz night at the local rugby club which was well supported by staff and local businesses. With entry fees and a raffle, £425.00 was raised.
They also had a golf day and Promise Auction, and the big fund raiser was Alex Beazley who also took part in a local Triathlon.
Toby Harris and Henry Teare completed the Moreton's office Charity leg by walking from Moreton-in-Marsh to Cirencester avoiding the Fosse Way and going strictly country routes (about 35 miles)… all in all the brave men managed the trip in just over 11 hours covering a distance of 30 miles.
Simon Merton cycled from Moreton to Cirencester, again not going on the Fosse way except for 100 yards. He left at 5.30 and arrived in Cirencester at 8.30 having cycled 34 miles - total cycling time 2.5 hours.

We here at Wooden Spoon are extremely grateful for the effort and tremendous fundraising ideas that all the offices of Strutt & Parker have put together to make the Giant Ball tour such a success. We would like to extend a massive thank you to all involved in raising funds for such a great cause.
To date over £90,000 has been raised for Spoon, a fabulous achievement.
