The new Wooden Spoon Fitness Centre at Valence School in Westerham, Kent, was opened on Thursday 29th September by Mick Skinner, former England & Harlequin rugby player and Honorary President Kent Region Wooden Spoon. The Kent Region of Wooden Spoon contributed £40,000 for the refurbishment of a residential block at the Special School for children and young people aged 5-19 years who have physical disabilities and complex medical needs.

The Wooden Spoon Lodge at Pathfield School in Barnstaple,Devon was opened by Mike Catt OBE, former Bath, London Irish, British Lion and England Rugby World Cup winner on 28th September. Spoon Devon Committee Members and many of their corporate marketing partners were hosted by Bruce Priday, Chairman of Devon Wooden Spoon Region, to thank them for their generous contribution and support. They were joined by fundraising staff from the TNT Exeter Depot, who came to see for themselves how the money they raise for Wooden Spoon has benefitted children like those at Pathfield School. David Bird, Devon Committee Member and Managing Partner of Devon and Cornwall Financial Solutions Centers of Clydesdales Bank very kindly invited Mike Catt OBE to do the honours at the official opening.

The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Dr Sylvia Dunkley, David Knaggs, Regional Chairman of Yorkshire and Head Teacher, Avril Young were joined by enthusiastic fundraisers from TNT's Rotherham Depot at a special ceremony to celebrate the return to the school nine months after flood damage.

Enthusiastic fundraisers from TNT's Edinburgh Depot have attended the formal opening by former Scottish rugby internationalist David Leslie, who won 32 caps between 1975 and 1985, of a Young People's Residential Caravan run by East Ayrshire Carers Centre Charity. In so doing they were able to witness first hand just how their efforts to raise money for Wooden Spoon, the Children's Charity of Rugby, has benefitted young people in Scotland.

Willy Sumner, Honorary President of Beckenham RFC, opened an Outdoor Adventure Trail on 11th July at the Riverside School in Beckenham, Kent. The Kent Region of Wooden Spoon contributed £25,000 towards the new Adventure Land at the school for children aged 4-11 years with autism and complex learning needs.

Enthusiastic fundraisers from TNT's Paisley Depot have attended the launch by Gordon Bulloch, the former Scotland rugby Captain, of a new dinghy for the 'Spirit of Fairbridge', a replica of a pilot schooner, run by the Fairbridge of Scotland charity, to witness exactly how their efforts to raise money for Wooden Spoon, the children's charity of rugby, has benefitted young people.

Battered, bruised and saddle-sore, the marvels of the TNT Great British Bike Ride 2011 free-wheeled into the HQ of English rugby on a wave of emotion to help celebrate a fantastic landmark in TNT's history… £3million in donations to Wooden Spoon.

Saddle sore, but nevertheless elated, a team of amateur cyclists - including TNT's Tim Robb - free-wheeled into Geneva, jubilant in the knowledge that they had just traversed some of the fiercest peaks in the Alps and helped raise more than £10,000 for children's charity Wooden Spoon.

Blake Aldridge, a member of The British Diving Team, opened the refurbished swimming pool on 5th July at Midfield School in Orpington, Kent. A donation of £12,500 was made by the Kent Region of Wooden Spoon to the refurbishment at the community school for children aged 3-11 years including some who have Autism and special educational needs.
