Separation of Surrey/Sussex There was an inaugural meeting held at Hove on 1st November 2005 to set up a separate Sussex Region. The Region has made great strides. This seperation gives Sussex members a much greater opportunity to participate in Spoon events and to raise funds specifically for projects in their area. |
| Support Golf Marathoner Will Goy for Surrey Spoon
Clandon Regis Golf club in Surrey is playing host to a Golf Marathon on the longest day of 2008, raising money for The Wooden Spoon. This year Will Goy, a long term member of the ever maturing parkland course near Guildford has taken on the mantle of running the fairways from dawn until dusk in an effort to raise over £1000 for this great charity devoted to helping the lives of disadvantaged children within the U.K. and Ireland. Single handedly, Will is looking to play over 11 rounds at the 6500 yard course in little over 16 hours of light in an attempt to break previous records held for the event, but his ambition lies within raising much needed monies for Wooden Spoon. It is for this reason that we need your help in achieving Will’s ambitious aims for the event on the 21st of June and we ask you all to visit http://www.justgiving.com/golfmarathon2008
TNT Support
As a way of saying thank you to TNT, one of the largest sponsors of Spoon, we host meetings for the staff of local TNT offices at some of the projects where funds have been utilised. Recently we have visited Woodlands School in Leatherhead, Dovers Green School in Reigate, The Ridgeway Community School in Farnham, and Strathmore School in Petersham. The TNT staff were shown round the School and particularly what Spoon has provided there, and are without exception amazed at what they see is being provided for the children to whom these schools are such a very important part of their lives. They return back to their depots with a renewed and determined vigour to raise even more money individually for this wonderful charity called Wooden Spoon!
