Spoon was pleased to be the benefiting charity of this game and many old faces from the Vets teams that had competed the for the SpoonAAs teams in Dubai in 2005 and 2006 took to the pitch in a very competitive and high class game.

Watched under the eagle eye of several hundred spectators, the English Legends fought for supremacy. The first try resulted from a break by Ravenscroft who off-loaded to Metcalf to release Hepi to score in the left corner. Howard Graham made the crucial conversion. The Irish responded with two consecutive tries that both came from lineouts and driving mauls. The half time score was 14-7. The second half was equally matched until the SpoonAAs broke out of their own half with stealy passes between the players before offloading to Hepi who again sprinted the length of the pitch to score under the posts. With five minutes to go, former Orrell and England player Nigel Heslop intercepted a loose Irish pass and ran 75meters to score and give the England Legends a 17-14 win. The Legends team was captained by 1987 World Cup captain, Mike Harrison and ably assisted by former Gloucester and England player, Kev Dunn.

The selling of wristbands in the bar post match resulted in over £350 being raised for Spoon thanks to the enormous generosity of the spectators and players.
