 MID-WALES REGION of Wooden Spoon is holding a mid-week special romantic golf. Regular supporters of Spoon will know and understand that many of the wonderful golfing tournaments organised by Spoon throughout the regions tend to be male dominated and very often are also corporate dominated too, not that there is any harm in either of these facts. However, here is something especially designed for the beauty to join together with the beast, play golf in one of the most beautiful areas of the UK and indulge in a little romance along the way. Something this good must have rules if only to ensure that the desire for romance comes before the desire to win.
The rules are simple:
Entrants must be over 55 years of age on the 1st August 2008, at least one of the partners must be a Spoon member, one of the members must be female (however politically incorrect that may be) and all entrants must be young at heart. Now that is not too difficult is it?
The dates in question are Tuesday 5th August, Wednesday 6th August and Thursday 7th August.
 The format is as follows:
Entrants arrive in Llandrindod Wells on the Tuesday and will be given the courtesy of the course that afternoon/early evening for a practice round. Wednesday morning will be a Greensome Stableford. After golf there will be the opportunity to take an escorted drive by car through the beautiful Elan Valley, a quiet area of quite outstanding tranquillity. That evening a candlelight dinner will be held at the Metropole Hotel, included in the price. Next morning the competition will be a 2-ball Texas Scramble followed by a buffet lunch and prize giving. Entrants will stay at the Metropole Hotel, with its lovely leisure suite and the price includes the room with full English breakfast each morning. The incredible cost per person for all of this will be only £160 and will be limited to 50 couples on a first come first booked basis. Perhaps it is worth adding that the Llandrindod Wells golf course is an award-winning 100 year old gem, with panoramic views to die for.
